About Our Program
Adopt-A-Student was started in 2009 by IMAGE SERVICES Staffing with the mission of helping the area's neediest students with the supplies they needed to start the school year with pride and self esteem.
IMAGE approached their business partners to help provide the supplies and a backpacks for children in homeless shelters. The generosity of our contributors continued as they offered to help children in the same way at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The Adopt-A-Student program started with 115 children in 4 shelters and has grown to as many as 727 children in 10 homeless shelters, housing programs and schools in Hampton Roads (depending on the year)
The Adopt-A-Student program provides a heartwarming and rewarding vehicle for helping individual students feel worthwhile on one very important day.
Our contributors requested to continue helping these children at Christmas. Our program grew to provide the area's neediest children with gifts and clothing.
Adopt-A-Student gives people an opportunity to help children who might otherwise go without. That has turned out to be a large number of people year after year who want to help.
The plan
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Contributors are asked to purchase a new backpack and all of the specific supplies required for an individual student(s). Many contributors choose to help several students.
Bulk SUPPLIES
While our focus is on the individual children, we can also facilitate bulk supply donations to local shelters or schools.
CHRISTMAS
Contributors are provided with clothing sizes and a wish list of gift items for an individual child or children.
